Contact Lens Exams

At Tullahoma Vision Associates, we strive to meet all of your eye and vision care needs. After a comprehensive eye and vision evaluation, your doctor will discuss a variety of contact lens options with you to select the type that best fits your vision needs and lifestyle. Even if you suffer from dry eye, allergies, or have had difficulties wearing contact lenses in the past, new technology has made it possible for nearly anyone to wear contact lenses successfully!

Evaluation

Prior to prescribing contact lenses, your doctor will determine what level of vision correction you require. Refractive errors (known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia) are evaluated by measuring how light focuses inside the eye. An optometrist may use either a phoropter or an automated instrument to take these measurements. In addition, eye curvature, size and shape are evaluated using a sophisticated instrument called a corneal topographer. These highly detailed measurements allow the doctor to determine the best type of contact lens for you and can help identify problems or complications even before there are any symptoms. To schedule an appointment for a contact lens examination, call 931.455.0654 today.

Corrective Lenses

After a thorough evaluation of visual requirements, eye health, and corneal size and shape, your doctor works with you to determine what type of contact lenses will best fit your needs and lifestyle. Contact lenses are available in soft, oxygen-permeable, and hybrid forms. We fit all types of contact lenses for nearly any situation - from single-use disposable lenses for sports or special occasions to continuous wear lenses that are left in up to 30 days. We fit lenses for even high degrees of astigmatism; multifocal lenses for those that need help for near vision; specialty and custom lenses for keratoconus and irregular corneas; and therapeutic lenses for severe dry eye and diseased eyes. In addition, Dr. McBride is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced practitioners in the state for correcting vision non-invasively with orthokeratology (also known as corneal reshaping or corneal refractive therapy). Call us at 931.455.0654 if you are interested in learning if contact lenses are a good fit for you.

Cosmetic Lenses

Advances in contact lens technology have created great options for cosmetic and prosthetic lenses. Custom contact lenses can be created to camouflage any color variation or irregularity and produce a natural eye color. Cosmetic lenses are also available to transform your eye color. Call us at 931.455.0654 and speak to our knowledgeable staff if you are interested in modifying or changing your eye color with contact lenses.
